The 2018 year was a milestone for the Dauphin Hospital Foundation (DHF). The DHF recognized its 30th year of operation since its inception in the late 1980’s —1988 to be exact.

The DHF sincerely thanks all donors for their contributions over the past year.  There were some larger contributions in 2018 that received extra recognition in the media.

They included:

  • A donation of $20-thousand from Tony Semeniuk of Ethelbert in September 2018;
  • A donation of over $17-thousand from the Trotz family in November 2018. The donation was specific to the Palliative Care Unit Redevelopment Project, which continues at Dauphin Regional Health Centre. The funds were raised from the historic Barry Trotz Stanley Cup Day celebration held in Dauphin in August of this past year.
  • Another donation via the Foundation—of over $6,600 from the Trotz family — to the Dauphin Personal Care Home Activities Department.

DHF Chairman Doug Deans says 2018 was also a busy one in a number of other ways.

“We continued supporting local health care professionals that applied for assistance to upgrade their training and skills.  We’ve maintained our support for itinerant specialist services and contributions through the Delha Cort educational fund. We are also extremely pleased to be directly assisting the redevelopments planned for the Palliative Care Unit at DRHC.  This is something people will be hearing more about in 2019,” Deans stated.

Deans says the Foundation participated in the grand opening event of the new MRI Unit at DRHC, which was held December 17, 2018.  The Foundation remained a strong community advocate for the Unit through the years both pre and post construction.

The DHF also launched its website in 2018.   Dauphin Regional Health Centre history, information about the Foundation and its activities, as well as ways people can make donations are all included on the new site.  It can be found at https://www.dghf.ca/index.php/ways-to-give

“For over 30 years, the Dauphin Hospital Foundation has been working hard on your behalf to raise and manage funds for various types of medical equipment, furniture, building improvements and physician and staff skills development at our regional health centre.  Looking back on three decades, we take this opportunity to recognize all past and present Board members and health centre support staff for their contributions to this legacy,” Deans added.
