Dauphin PCHs benefit from Barry Trotz Day

The benefit from the Barry Trotz Stanley Cup Day celebrations held this past August in Dauphin is the gift that keeps on giving. Through the Dauphin Hospital Foundation, the Trotz Family presented the Dauphin Personal Care Home (PCH) with a cheque for $6,640 on December 4, 2018.
Earlier, St. Paul’s Personal Care Home received a donation cheque for $6,640. Both donations are specific to each of the PCH’s activity departments.
Care Team Managers at each of the sites, Crystal Abraham of Dauphin PCH and Laura Rowan at St. Paul’s Home were extremely humbled and very grateful that the Trotz family included their residents in both the Stanley Cup Tour in August and a donation contribution from the success of the event.
Barry Trotz, who was raised, played and coached hockey in Dauphin, was head coach of the Washington Capitals when they captured the NHL Stanley Cup last June. As each team member gets to spend a day with the Cup, Barry chose to bring it back to Dauphin to celebrate with his hometown community. The celebrations raised just over $75,000 —which Barry matched— to total $150,000 to give back to various local organizations.
Barry has since moved on to coach the NHL’s New York Islanders, which feature another ‘Parkland’ connection with defenceman Ryan Pulock of Grandview on the team.
The DGH Foundation congratulates Barry Trotz and his family for this momentous accomplishment and sincerely thanks and appreciates the heartfelt contributions made back to local health care sites through this generous effort.
